Author Description Holland McTyeire Thompson (July 30, 1873 – October 21, 1940), was an American historian and editor.<br /><br />His editorship, in collaboration with Arthur Mee & E.V. McLoughlin, of "The Book of Knowledge," in twenty volumes and its frequent revisions, and his editorship of "The Book of Lands and People" occupied Dr. Thompson for many years, but he found time to write several other books. Among them were "The New South," "The People and the Trusts," "The Age of Invention," in the "Chronicles of America" series, and "Prisons of the Civil War.”
